DC Cohort Mini-Conference Registration
Thank you for your interest in the upcoming DC Cohort Mini-Conference. You can gain assistance and support for your dissertation or project from peers, faculty members and program chairs during this conference and hands-on workshop. Sessions will be offered every 30 minutes.
If you are a learner in a DBA, EdD or PhD program, you will select three sessions (one per each time slot) from the following options. You may select any combination of Presentation Sessions and Small Group Sessions.
Presentation Sessions
- Selecting a Topic, Defining the Need/Gap - This session helps pre-residency learners work through the process of selecting a topic for approval and developing the need/gap analysis for the selected research.
- Developing the 10 Key Points - This session focuses on developing the 10 Strategic Points from the learner's research. The 10 points are the strategic elements that define the research and they stem directly from the literature on a topic.
- Writing a Prospectus - This session addresses elements of the Prospectus. The Prospectus is a road map for the dissertation. It provides the essential framework to guide the development of the dissertation proposal and builds upon the 10 Strategic Points.
- Writing a Proposal - This session targets key elements of the Proposal. The Proposal is the first three chapters of the dissertation.
- Writing the Literature Review - This session helps learners focus on preparing the four primary sections of Chapter Two: a) Background of the problem/gap, b) Theoretical foundations c) Review of literature topics/key themes, and d) Summary.
- Theoretical Foundations - This session helps learners understand, identify and select the theoretical foundations for their proposed research.
- Methodology/Study Design - This session addresses methodology including quantitative, qualitative and mixed method. Research design options and methodology alignment will be discussed.
- Data Collection/Analysis (Quantitative) - This session addresses the plan to collect quantitative data for a study. Data sources and computational techniques will be discussed.
- Data Collection/Analysis (Qualitative) - This session addresses the plan to collect qualitative data for a study. Methods including focus groups, interviews and surveys will be discussed.
- Residency Preparation - This session addresses the Residency Pre-Assignment, Annotated Bibliographies, Residency Test and a plethora of activities.
- APA Writing Style - This session helps learners with the tools to write effectively in the APA writing style. Paragraphing methods and writing tools for citations, and grammar will also be discussed.
Small Group Sessions
Faculty will be working at a table with 10 or fewer learners who will be asking individual questions and listening as the faculty interact with their peers.
- 10 Key Points - Learners will have the opportunity to work in small groups directly with a dissertation chair. Learners should be prepared with questions and their own documents.
- Prospectus/Proposal (Two Sessions) - Learners will have the opportunity to work in small groups directly with a dissertation chair. Learners should be prepared with questions and their own documents.
- How to Write a Research Question, Problem, Purpose - Learners will have the opportunity to work in small groups directly with a dissertation chair. Learners should be prepared with questions and their own documents.
