Let The Celebration Commence!

Spring commencement 2020 is approaching and we want you to be part of it! Commencement is a fun and exciting time. We need staff who want to be part of our students’ final experience here at GCU! We need your help to make this a memorable time for our students and show our support for them and their accomplishments!

Important Information

Commencement staff hours will vary for these ceremonies. You can choose from two shift options outlined below. You are also welcome to choose multiple shifts. Meals and snacks will be provided. There will be downtime and breaks during the shift.

As commencement staff for the 2020 Spring Ceremonies on Thursday, April 30 and/or Friday, May 1, you must seek prior approval from your manager to assist. Permission will be granted based on workload and performance considerations. If approved to assist, hourly employees will be paid for staff hours that occur during their normal work schedule. Please note, you will not be paid outside your normal work hours since attendance is not mandatory.

Additionally, signing up for a three-ceremony shift on Thursday, April 30 (Group 1) or Friday, May 1 (Group 2) will receive an additional future day off following the ceremonies. The future day off requires prior management approval (as does any planned PTO day) and it must be used by a date to be determined or it is lost. Timesheets should be coded "LTO-Lopes Time Off" for both the hours spent staffing and when taking the future day off. The future day off must be taken by June 30, 2020.

You make a difference for our students, and it is our time to celebrate their huge accomplishment with them! We appreciate your willingness to be involved!

*Staff participants will include employees from both GCU and GCE. GCE employees are able to volunteer and participate in campus activities when volunteer services are requested for any GCU events pertaining to GCU students. GCE employees provide services to our students and their involvement in events for GCU students, such as Commencement, is greatly appreciated!
